The middleweight supersport segment is growing rapidly, with manufacturers recognising the demand for smaller-capacity, high-revving machines that deliver big-bike thrills in a more accessible package. This surge in popularity has sparked a wave of new contenders aimed squarely at rivals like Kawasaki’s ZX-4RR, with Chinese manufacturers now leading an aggressive charge into the category. Bikes such as the all-new ZXMOTO 500RR and the QJMotor SRK450RR highlight just how serious this onslaught has become, bringing advanced performance and technology into a fiercely competitive space.

Adding further weight to its early impact, ZXMOTO has already seen strong production momentum, with over 10,000 units of the 500RR having rolled off the assembly line to date—an indication of both demand and the brand’s confidence in this new platform.

The ZXMOTO 500RR arrives as a compelling addition to this segment, blending high-revving performance, advanced electronics, and lightweight engineering into a sharp, track-focused package that remains just as capable on the road.

At the heart of the 500RR is a 470cc inline four-cylinder engine, featuring a DOHC, 16-valve layout and liquid cooling. With a compression ratio of 12.9:1, the motor is tuned for strong top-end performance, delivering a claimed 62 kW (84 hp) at 13,500 rpm and 46 Nm of torque at 11,500 rpm. The character is unmistakably supersport, with power building aggressively through the rev range. A BOSCH electronic fuel injection system ensures precise throttle response, while a wet multi-plate slipper clutch provides smooth downshifts and added stability under hard braking. With a top speed of 235 km/h plus, the 500RR positions itself as a serious contender for riders looking for both road and track excitement.


Performance figures reinforce that intent. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is dispatched in just 3.4 seconds, placing it firmly in the territory of larger 600cc machines. Braking performance is equally impressive, with a best stopping distance of 37 metres. This is supported by a comprehensive electronics package, including cornering ABS governed by a 6-axis IMU, enhancing safety and control when pushing hard into corners or under aggressive riding conditions. Fully adjustable suspension at both ends allows riders to fine-tune the setup, while CST S5 semi-slick tyres provide strong grip and consistent feedback, whether on the circuit or a spirited road ride.


The chassis and design philosophy centre around lightweight agility. With a curb weight of just 168 kg, the 500RR benefits from reduced mass and improved handling dynamics. An integrated steel trellis diamond frame works in conjunction with an aluminium single-sided swingarm, contributing to both rigidity and reduced unsprung weight. The compact dimensions, paired with a 1395 mm wheelbase and an 800 mm seat height, create an aggressive yet manageable riding position that suits a wide range of riders.



Geometry plays a key role in the bike’s adaptability. Adjustable rake and anti-squat angles allow for setup changes depending on riding conditions or preferences, giving riders the ability to tailor handling characteristics for track days or everyday riding. Split-style handlebars further enhance front-end feel and control, reinforcing the bike’s precise and responsive nature.

Braking hardware is equally track-focused, with dual 300 mm floating front discs clamped by four-piston opposed calipers, paired with a direct-push master cylinder for improved lever feel. At the rear, a 220 mm disc with a two-piston caliper provides balanced stopping power. The suspension setup features inverted 41 mm front forks with full adjustability for preload and damping, ensuring the chassis remains composed under load.

Rolling on 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels, the 500RR is fitted with a 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tyre combination, a proven setup for stability and grip in high-performance riding scenarios. With a 15-litre fuel tank, the bike maintains a practical balance between range and weight distribution.
