Thai GP Tuk-Tuk Challenge Brings Spectacle to Buriram

By MRWadmin

Grand Prix Sunday at Buriram took on a uniquely Thai flavour this past weekend as the traditional rider parade was transformed into an unforgettable Tuk-Tuk Challenge. What began as a light-hearted addition to the schedule quickly became one of the standout moments of the entire MotoGP weekend.

A total of 21 riders climbed aboard 11 Tuk-Tuks for a two-lap exhibition around the circuit, pairing with their actual MotoGP teammates in each machine. The format was simple but entertaining: a warm-up lap to get accustomed to the three-wheeled transport, followed by a one-lap dash featuring a compulsory rider change. Strategy, timing and quick coordination proved just as important as outright bravery.

The warm-up lap alone delivered plenty of theatre. Riders wasted no time embracing the moment, with wheelie attempts, playful burnouts and crowd-pleasing antics setting the tone. Jack Miller and Razgatlioglu were among those putting on a show, lifting their Tuk-Tuks and entertaining fans packed into the grandstands before the competitive lap had even begun.

When the sprint lap got underway, the intensity increased. The mid-lap rider swap added a chaotic element, forcing teams to execute clean changes under pressure. Lines into corners were creative, overtakes were ambitious and the final sector produced a dramatic showdown that had spectators on their feet.

At the flag, it was Miller and Razgatlioglu who crossed the line first to take bragging rights in what may not have counted towards the championship, but certainly counted as one of the most memorable highlights of the Thai Grand Prix weekend.
