Radian Unveils the EXR, a Competition-Ready Electric Enduro Motorcycle with Revolutionary Swappable Battery Technology

Dutch startup Radian has officially lifted the covers on the all-new EXR, an electric enduro motorcycle the company believes will redefine competitive off-road riding. Designed from the ground up with racing at its core, the EXR introduces a number of industry-first innovations, including a rapidly swappable battery system aimed at eliminating the biggest challenges facing electric motorcycles: limited range and lengthy charging times.

Founded in 2021, Radian was established with the goal of creating an uncompromised electric off-road motorcycle capable of matching, and even surpassing, the performance of traditional petrol-powered machines. Drawing on experience gained through Electric Superbike Twente, where members of the team won the 2018 MotoE Championship during their debut season, the company has spent the past three years developing what it describes as the world’s first truly competition-ready electric enduro motorcycle.

Powering the EXR is a high-voltage 336V electric drivetrain producing an impressive 70 horsepower and an astonishing 1,060 Nm of torque at the rear wheel. Instant torque delivery from standstill, combined with a maximum motor speed of 14,000 rpm, removes the need for a conventional gearbox, allowing riders to focus entirely on their lines and technique. The drivetrain combines advanced inverter technology with a carbon-sleeved rotor to deliver smooth, highly efficient performance across a broad power range.

Perhaps the biggest breakthrough is Radian’s patent-pending InfiniPack battery system. Unlike conventional electric motorcycles that require lengthy charging stops, the EXR’s uniquely curved battery can be removed and replaced in under 30 seconds without the use of tools. The curved design not only makes battery changes quick and ergonomic but also allows the battery mass to sit closer to the motorcycle’s centre of gravity, improving handling and making the bike feel lighter in technical terrain.

The standard EXR will be supplied with an 8.6 kWh Endurance battery, offering between 60 and 115 kilometres of range when ridden at race pace, or anywhere from one to seven hours depending on riding conditions. Even with the larger battery, the motorcycle tips the scales at just 125 kg. Riders looking for an even lighter package will later have access to an optional 5.8 kWh Sprint battery, reducing overall weight to approximately 113 kg.

Charging is handled via Radian’s dedicated InfiniDock charging station, allowing one battery to recharge while another is in use. This system is designed to keep riders on the trail or race circuit with minimal downtime.

The riding experience is also highly customisable. Through a dedicated smartphone app, riders can tailor the motorcycle’s power delivery to suit different riding conditions, from the immediate low-end response required for technical hard enduro sections to a smoother throttle with strong top-end performance for fast sand tracks or open terrain.

Practicality has also received considerable attention. The EXR features an innovative Smart Storage system integrated directly into the aluminium subframe. Interchangeable storage modules allow riders to carry tools, spare parts, an onboard charger or other essential equipment without wearing a backpack. Radian also plans to release downloadable 3D-print files, enabling owners to design and manufacture custom storage inserts for their specific needs.

Visually, the EXR adopts a modern, purposeful design with clean bodywork, exposed engineering details and a distinctive full-LED Radian Vision headlight. Beyond its unique appearance, the animated lighting system doubles as a charging status indicator, while the minimalist cockpit incorporates an integrated enduro timekeeping system designed to improve rider focus during competition.

The motorcycle’s aluminium chassis performs more than just structural duties. Radian has engineered the frame to act as a thermal management system, helping dissipate heat from the electric drivetrain while maintaining precise handling characteristics. Premium components are fitted throughout, including KYB suspension and Brembo braking systems, while the limited Founders Edition receives Haan wheels fitted with Excel A60 rims.

Although the EXR has been developed primarily for enduro competition, the platform has been designed with future expansion in mind. Radian plans to develop additional motocross and supermoto variants using the same modular architecture. The company also claims the electric platform will reduce running costs and maintenance requirements by around 70 percent compared with a conventional combustion-engine motorcycle, allowing riders to spend more time riding and less time in the workshop.

The Radian EXR will be fully road homologated and is scheduled to begin deliveries during the fourth quarter of 2027. Initial availability will cover the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany before expanding across Europe. Pricing starts at €14,450, with reservations now open through Radian’s official website.

With its combination of race-ready performance, rapid battery-swapping technology, premium components and highly adaptable platform, the Radian EXR signals an ambitious step forward for electric off-road motorcycles and could play a significant role in shaping the future of competitive enduro riding.
