LCR Honda Unveils Its 2026 MotoGP Line-Up as Experience Meets a New Generation

LCR Honda pulled the covers off its 2026 MotoGP line-up, and with it came a fresh visual identity and a renewed sense of purpose as the team prepares for a landmark season. The unveiling confirmed continuity on one side of the garage and an exciting new beginning on the other, perfectly reflecting LCR’s philosophy of blending proven experience with emerging talent.

Johann Zarco remains a central figure in the project, continuing with Castrol Honda LCR for another season. The Frenchman’s striking Castrol livery returns for 2026, symbolising stability and ambition as Zarco embarks on his third year with the team. By the time the lights go out on the opening round, the season will mark his 18th year in the World Championship, an extraordinary milestone in a career defined by consistency, resilience, and relentless work ethic.

Zarco’s numbers tell a powerful story. Since his Grand Prix debut, he has amassed 304 starts, 23 MotoGP podiums, two premier-class victories, and two Moto2 World Championship titles. Having raced for four different manufacturers in the premier class, the 35-year-old brings an invaluable depth of knowledge to the LCR garage. Motivated as ever and still hungry for results, Zarco is determined to convert experience into strong finishes as Honda continues its push forward.

On the other side of the team, a new chapter begins with the arrival of Diogo Moreira, who steps up to MotoGP with the Pro Honda LCR squad after clinching the 2025 Moto2 World Championship. At just 21 years old, the Brazilian rookie arrives in the premier class carrying not only momentum, but also the weight of expectation that comes with being one of the most exciting talents of his generation.

Born in São Paulo on 23 April 2004, Moreira has built a reputation for intelligence on the bike, adaptability across different machinery, and a calm maturity beyond his years. Racing with the number 11, he has steadily added milestones to his career, and 2026 represents the realisation of a lifelong dream. His manager spoke of a rider ready for the challenge, noting that Moreira’s transition to MotoGP is not about rushing results, but about building something lasting. According to his management team, the move to LCR Honda offers the ideal environment for growth, with a structure that understands how to nurture young talent while demanding the highest level of professionalism.

Lucio Cecchinello, Team Principal of LCR Honda, underlined just how significant the upcoming season will be, both personally and historically. As LCR celebrates its 30th year in Grand Prix racing, Cecchinello reflected on a journey that began in 1996 and has since delivered 133 podiums, 41 victories, and 36 pole positions. For him, the numbers are not just statistics, but moments, memories, and shared achievements that define the team’s identity.

Cecchinello expressed immense pride in continuing the journey with Zarco, highlighting the strong bond that has formed over recent seasons and the shared commitment to pushing the project forward. At the same time, he spoke enthusiastically about welcoming Moreira into the LCR family, describing him as a rider whose passion, determination, and adaptability align perfectly with the team’s long-term vision. With one rider offering experience and leadership, and the other bringing youth and fresh energy, Cecchinello believes the 2026 line-up represents the ideal balance.

As the new season approaches, LCR Honda stands at a meaningful crossroads: celebrating three decades of racing heritage while investing firmly in the future. With fresh liveries, a proven race winner, and a MotoGP rookie ready to write his own story, the stage is set for another compelling chapter in the team’s history.
