Kawasaki Ignites the Two-Stroke Revolution with the All-New 2027 KX327

By MRWadmin

Kawasaki has officially thrown down the gauntlet in the off-road world with the unveiling of the all-new 2027 KX327 and KX327X, marking the brand’s return to the large-capacity two-stroke segment for the first time in more than two decades.

Combining modern technology with the unmistakable character of a two-stroke, the new machines are built around a completely new fuel-injected 327cc single-cylinder engine and a race-proven chassis derived from Kawasaki’s championship-winning KX450 platform. The result is a lightweight, high-performance motorcycle designed to deliver podium-worthy performance while retaining the pure riding excitement that has made two-strokes legendary among off-road enthusiasts.

A New Era for Kawasaki Two-Strokes

At the heart of both models lies an all-new 327cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected two-stroke engine. Unlike traditional carbureted two-strokes, Kawasaki’s advanced fuel injection system ensures crisp throttle response, consistent performance in varying temperatures and altitudes, and improved rideability across a wide range of terrain.

The engine has been engineered to produce a remarkably flat torque curve, delivering strong traction and controllable power from ultra-low RPM right through the mid-range. Whether navigating technical trails, rocky climbs, wooded singletrack, or charging through motocross circuits, riders can expect smooth, predictable power delivery and excellent rear-wheel grip.

A specially designed exhaust valve system further enhances the broad power spread by optimising exhaust flow throughout the rev range, helping the KX327 maintain strong low-end torque while delivering smooth acceleration as revs rise.

Staying true to its two-stroke roots, Kawasaki has retained a pre-mix lubrication system, preserving the simplicity and nostalgic appeal that enthusiasts continue to love.

Tailored for Motocross and Cross-Country Riders

While both models share the same engine platform, Kawasaki has developed two distinct versions to cater to different riding disciplines.

The KX327 is aimed squarely at motocross riders, featuring a close-ratio five-speed gearbox designed to keep the engine within its optimal powerband and maximise acceleration on the track.

The KX327X, meanwhile, is built for cross-country and enduro-style riding. It receives a wider-ratio six-speed transmission, allowing riders to tackle everything from tight technical sections to fast open terrain with confidence. First gear has been specifically optimised for obstacle negotiation and technical riding situations where precise control is essential.

Both models feature a race-inspired hydraulic clutch system that provides smooth engagement, consistent feel, and precise traction control in demanding riding conditions.

Modern Technology Meets Two-Stroke Simplicity

One of the biggest surprises is just how much technology Kawasaki has packed into these new machines.

Electric start comes standard, allowing quick and effortless restarts at the touch of a button — a welcome feature during races and challenging trail rides.

Riders can also switch between two selectable engine maps via a handlebar-mounted power mode switch, tailoring power delivery to suit terrain and rider preference.

The KX327 and KX327X also feature smartphone connectivity through Kawasaki’s RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX2 system. Through the app, riders can access vehicle settings, maintenance reminders, riding logs, and service information directly from their smartphone.

Championship-Proven Chassis

Supporting the new engine is Kawasaki’s lightweight aluminium perimeter frame, derived directly from the KX450 motocross machine.

Constructed using forged, extruded, and cast aluminium components, the chassis offers an ideal balance between agility, stability, and rider feedback. The lightweight construction contributes to a total vehicle weight of just 233.7 pounds (approximately 106kg), placing it firmly in the territory of many 250cc four-stroke motocross bikes.

The chassis geometry and centre of gravity have been carefully optimised to complement the engine’s characteristics, resulting in predictable handling and excellent stability across a variety of riding conditions.

Factory-Level Suspension and Braking

Suspension duties are handled by premium KYB components.

Up front sits a factory-style 48mm inverted AOS coil-spring fork, designed to deliver excellent damping performance and front-end feel over rough terrain, braking bumps, and technical obstacles.

At the rear, Kawasaki’s proven Uni-Trak suspension system provides exceptional traction and rear-wheel control, while offering full adjustability to suit rider preference and terrain conditions.

Braking performance comes courtesy of Nissin components, with a 270mm front petal disc and a 240mm rear disc delivering strong and predictable stopping power.

The KX327X runs a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination for cross-country versatility, while the motocross-focused KX327 uses a 19-inch rear wheel setup designed for optimal track performance.

Designed Around the Rider

Kawasaki has paid significant attention to rider ergonomics, giving both models slim bodywork and compact dimensions that allow easy rider movement in corners and technical sections.

ODI Lock-On grips come standard, while adjustable ergonomics allow riders to choose from four handlebar positions and two footpeg positions to create their ideal riding setup.

Maintenance has also been simplified, with a quick-release side cover providing tool-free access to the air filter.

KX327X Gets Additional Trail-Focused Equipment

The cross-country-focused KX327X receives several additional features aimed at long-distance trail riding and off-road competition.

These include a larger 2.2-gallon semi-transparent fuel tank, hand guards, skid plate, linkage guard, rear disc guard, and a side stand as standard equipment.

These additions make the KX327X ready for everything from woods racing and enduro events to recreational adventure riding.

Aggressive Factory Styling

Finished in Kawasaki’s signature Lime Green, both motorcycles feature sharp, race-inspired bodywork that mirrors the styling language of the latest KX motocross range.

The slim profile and athletic proportions not only contribute to the bikes’ aggressive appearance but also enhance rider mobility and control.

Every aspect of the design reflects Kawasaki’s intention to create a modern, factory-style two-stroke capable of standing out on both the starting gate and the trail.
