FERMÍN ALDEGUER TO WEAR VR46 COLOURS FROM 2027
Fermín Aldeguer will join the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team from the 2027 MotoGP season, with the young Spaniard set to ride a factory Ducati Desmosedici GP for the 2027 and 2028 campaigns.
The move represents another significant step in Aldeguer’s rapidly developing MotoGP career and will see him become an official Ducati Corse rider while joining Valentino Rossi’s Tavullia-based team.
Born in 2005, Aldeguer is currently the youngest rider on the MotoGP grid and has established himself as one of the championship’s most promising young talents. His racing career began in Spain, where he won regional and national championships before progressing through European competition and making his World Championship debut in MotoE in 2021.
His performances in the electric class earned him a move to Moto2, where he quickly attracted attention as one of the most highly rated young riders in the intermediate category.
Aldeguer stepped up to MotoGP in 2025 with Gresini Racing and made an immediate impact. During his rookie campaign, he claimed three podium finishes and secured his maiden premier-class victory in Indonesia, becoming the second-youngest rider in MotoGP history to win a Grand Prix. He finished his debut season inside the championship’s top ten and was named Rookie of the Year.
His second MotoGP season has continued to demonstrate his potential. Despite missing three races, Aldeguer currently sits 11th in the World Championship standings and has already added another podium to his record in Barcelona.
The move to VR46 Racing will give Aldeguer access to a factory Ducati Desmosedici GP under the new technical regulations introduced for 2027. With major changes coming to MotoGP, including new motorcycles and tyres, Aldeguer sees the opportunity to work closely with Ducati Corse as an important part of his continued development.
“I’m very happy to be taking this step in my MotoGP career with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team,” Aldeguer said. “Signing with Valentino’s team is incredible. He has always been one of my idols and a role model for me.”
Aldeguer also highlighted the importance of having factory Ducati support during a season of major technical change, with his immediate ambitions focused on adapting quickly and delivering consistent results.
“My goal will be to adapt to the new tyres, but also to the new bike,” he explained. “Having the factory Ducati will be a huge help in terms of development throughout the season.”
The Spaniard has set himself the target of regularly fighting at the sharp end of the MotoGP field, with consistent top-five finishes firmly in his sights.
For VR46 Racing Team Director Alessio Salucci, Aldeguer’s arrival represents an investment in the team’s future.
“We are happy to confirm that Fermín will ride with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team in 2027,” Salucci said. “He is a young rider who showed a huge talent right from his MotoGP debut.”
Salucci also highlighted the significance of Aldeguer becoming an official Ducati Corse rider and praised Ducati’s continued support of the VR46 project.
Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall’Igna believes Aldeguer’s performances since entering MotoGP have demonstrated the talent and determination required to become a major force in the championship.
Ducati has renewed its agreement with Aldeguer for the next two seasons, with the manufacturer confident that VR46 Racing provides the right environment for the young Spaniard to continue developing his potential.
The partnership also underlines Ducati’s commitment to developing young talent within its MotoGP programme, with Aldeguer set to become an important part of the manufacturer’s future.
VR46 Racing Team Manager Pablo Nieto is equally confident about what Aldeguer can achieve, pointing to his maturity and ability to compete at the highest level despite his young age.
The 2027 season will therefore mark a new chapter for Aldeguer, VR46 Racing and Ducati, with the arrival of a new generation of MotoGP machinery adding another layer of intrigue to the partnership.
Aldeguer will now look to build on the foundations established during his first two MotoGP seasons and take another step towards becoming a regular contender at the front of the premier class.
From 2027, the distinctive VR46 colours will have a new young talent wearing them — and Fermín Aldeguer will have a factory Ducati beneath him as he looks to turn his considerable potential into consistent MotoGP success.
