Ducati Unveils the New Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2

By MRWadmin

As part of its 2025 World Première series, Ducati has marked a new chapter for its twin-cylinder motorcycles by revealing the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2, the first models to feature the innovative Ducati V2 engine.

These new models are the lightest Panigale and Streetfighter Ducati has produced, boasting track-ready performance and everyday riding fun. Built around the redesigned Ducati V2 engine, they set new standards for compactness and weight within Ducati’s twin-cylinder lineup.

Panigale V2

The Panigale V2 represents a major milestone in Ducati’s twin-cylinder sportbike lineage, featuring a ground-up design rather than a scaled-down engine variant. Inspired by iconic predecessors like the 748, 848, and 959, the Panigale V2 combines high-performance sportbike attributes with an accessible, rider-friendly feel for road use.

With the new 90° V2 engine and a 4 kg monocoque frame, the Panigale V2 is Ducati’s lightest Panigale yet—15 kg lighter than the previous V2 S model. This balance of lightness, intuitive handling, and power delivery offers riders a rewarding blend of effortless control and thrilling performance.

Design

The Panigale V2’s design echoes the aggressive elegance of the Panigale V4, with clean lines and sophisticated fairing surfaces. A passive ventilation system within the fairing directs airflow for enhanced comfort, while the Full-LED headlight with double DRL provides a signature Panigale “look.” The refined ergonomics aim to reduce wrist strain, enhancing comfort and control during spirited riding.

At the rear, design cues from the iconic 916 create a cohesive, monolithic effect with the tank, including a dual-part full-LED taillight in Ducati’s traditional sportbike style. Completing the look, the new “Y” spoked wheels offer a modern take on the classic Marchesini three-spoke design in contrasting black with Ducati Red.

Performance on Track and Road

On the track, the Panigale V2 achieves performance comparable to its predecessor but with increased ease thanks to its reduced weight, modern chassis, and updated ergonomics. The new V2 engine’s ample torque and user-friendly dynamics ensure that riders quickly adapt and can push limits with reduced physical effort.

For road riding, the Panigale V2 becomes Ducati’s most enjoyable sportbike, with a comfortable riding position, reduced front loading, and improved thermal comfort, allowing riders to fully immerse themselves in the experience between corners.

Streetfighter V2

By applying its “Fight Formula” to the lightest Panigale platform, Ducati has created the Streetfighter V2—a naked bike that is equally exhilarating on the road and track. Featuring an 890 cc engine, Panigale V2 chassis, 175 kg weight, wide handlebars, and no fairing, the Streetfighter V2 delivers raw riding excitement without compromise.

With a monocoque frame and the new 90° V2 engine, the Streetfighter V2 is Ducati’s lightest model in its class, weighing 18 kg less than the previous version. This reduction enhances agility and stability, making it a thrilling choice for both everyday and high-speed riding.

Design

True to the Streetfighter family’s style, the V2’s design emphasizes the raw, mechanical base of the Panigale V2. The minimalist front and Full-LED headlight unit with DRL give the bike an unmistakably aggressive look. Components like the fuel tank, faired seat/tail unit, and alloy wheels carry over from the Panigale V2, maintaining the bike’s performance-oriented aesthetic.

The New Ducati V2 Engine

Both the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 feature Ducati’s latest 90° V2 engine with variable intake valve timing, Euro5+ compliance, an 890 cc capacity, and 120 hp output. Weighing just 54.5 kg—9.4 kg less than the previous Superquadro engine—the V2 is Ducati’s lightest twin-cylinder yet. Its torque curve, with 70% of peak torque available from 3,000 rpm, ensures an exhilarating experience on the road. For track use, riders can opt for a racing exhaust, boosting power to 126 hp and reducing weight by an additional 4.5 kg.

With a weight of just 176 kg for the Panigale V2 and 175 kg for the Streetfighter V2, both models achieve an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 0.69 hp/kg. They offer three Power Modes: High, Medium, and Low (95 hp), with a 35 kW version available for restricted licenses.

Chassis and Suspension

Both models utilize a lightweight monocoque frame that integrates the engine as a structural element. The double-sided swingarm draws from the Panigale V4’s Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm, providing stability during corner exits. The Streetfighter V2 features a longer swingarm and standard Sachs steering damper for added stability at high speeds without a fairing.

Fully adjustable Marzocchi forks and Kayaba shocks come standard, with Öhlins upgrades on the V2 S models, which also include a lithium-ion battery for additional weight savings. Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires ensure optimal handling and grip, while Brembo’s M50 monobloc calipers and 320 mm discs deliver precise stopping power for both track and road.

Advanced Electronics

Both the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 include a six-axis IMU, supporting a suite of advanced electronic aids designed to enhance safety on the road and maximize performance on the track. Features include Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control, and Quick Shift 2.0 as standard. The S versions add Ducati Power Launch and Pit Limiter.

Four Riding Modes (Race, Sport, Road, Wet) offer preset settings that can be customized, enabling riders to tailor the bikes’ responses for varying conditions. A 5” TFT display presents key information through three modes (Road, Road Pro, Track), each designed to streamline the interface for different riding contexts. The color-coded rev counter also doubles as a gear shift indicator, providing visual cues for optimal gear changes.

Ducati’s new Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 models represent a step forward in sportbike technology, merging track-level performance with ease of use on the road. They’re poised to set a new benchmark for twin-cylinder sportbikes.
