Ducati Hypermotard V2 – The Return of Pure Adrenaline

Twenty years after the very first prototype stunned the world, Ducati has unleashed a new icon of aggression and excitement — the Hypermotard V2. Lighter, sharper, more powerful and more technologically advanced than ever, it captures the rebellious soul of the original Hypermotard 1100 while propelling the concept of extreme riding into a new era.

At the heart of this machine is Ducati’s new 890cc 90° V2 engine — the lightest twin-cylinder ever built by the brand. Weighing just 54 kilograms, it produces 120 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and 94 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm. Over 70% of that torque is already available from just 3,000 rpm, making the Hypermotard deliver instant, explosive acceleration whether carving through city streets or attacking a race track. The engine features Ducati’s new Intake Variable Timing system, ensuring smooth low-rev delivery and hard-hitting top-end power without compromise, all while remaining Euro 5+ compliant with service intervals of 45,000 km. For new riders, a 35 kW A2-compatible version will also be available.

Visually, the Hypermotard V2 pays tribute to the original 2005 EICMA prototype — the one that won “Best in Show.” Its compact, muscular design places mass forward for that unmistakable motard stance: flat seat, taut fuel tank with double winged design, exposed trellis subframe, twin under-seat exhausts and a floating rear light. The aggressive front end features a redesigned headlight with dual DRL strips set into a darkened housing, forming a stare that is as menacing as it is unmistakably Ducati.

Ducati hasn’t just refined the look — the Hypermotard V2 is physically leaner and more agile. Thanks to a new aluminium monocoque frame that uses the engine as a structural element, plus lighter chassis components, the bike now weighs just 180 kg wet (no fuel), with the SP version dropping to only 177 kg. Both models share the same 880 mm seat height, but Ducati has narrowed the bike’s waist and trimmed the straddle arc, making it easier to reach the ground without sacrificing the commanding riding position that defines a true Hypermotard. The flat, narrow seat gives the rider total freedom of movement and enhanced front-end control.

The riding experience has been elevated through a blend of intuitive ergonomics and cutting-edge technology. Fully adjustable Kayaba suspension features on the standard model, while the SP steps things up with Öhlins NIX30 forks and an Öhlins STX46 rear shock for razor-sharp handling and racetrack-ready feedback. Braking performance is handled by Brembo, with twin 320 mm discs and M4.32 calipers on the standard version and M50 calipers with a dedicated master cylinder on the SP. Lightweight alloy wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres come standard, while the SP is fitted with forged wheels and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa rubber for even more grip and agility.

Technology plays a key role in the Hypermotard V2’s identity. A six-axis IMU manages Ducati’s advanced electronics suite, including four-level Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control and Ducati Quick Shift 2.0. Four Riding Modes — Race, Sport, Road and Wet — allow the rider to tailor the bike’s personality, from hardcore track aggression to smooth, safe commuting in low-grip conditions. All information is displayed via a new 5-inch high-resolution TFT display, with intuitive controls and day-night modes for maximum clarity.
Every surface, every component and every mechanical detail of the Hypermotard V2 has been honed to celebrate its core philosophy — raw, controlled fun. It is a machine that refuses to conform, engineered to thrill and designed to turn every ride into an adrenaline-charged experience. In SP trim, with its race-inspired graphics, Öhlins suspension, lighter wheels and extra performance features, the Hypermotard becomes even more extreme.

Aggressive, unapologetic and unmistakably Ducati, the new Hypermotard V2 is more than an evolution. It’s a declaration that the spirit of the original Hyper lives on — louder, lighter and wilder than ever.
