Celestino Vietti and CFMOTO Aspar Team Set Their Sights on the 2027 Moto2 World Championship

Celestino Vietti will join the CFMOTO Aspar Team for the 2027 Moto2 season, with the Italian rider and Jorge Martínez “Aspar”’s squad setting their sights firmly on a challenge for the World Championship.

Vietti will return to Kalex machinery for the first time since 2024, a season in which he claimed three victories and scored 165 points in the intermediate class. The Italian has continued to demonstrate his competitiveness in 2026, currently sitting seventh in the Moto2 standings with 112 points and three podium finishes. He is also only a handful of points behind the CFMOTO Aspar Team’s current riders, David Alonso and Dani Holgado.

The arrival of Vietti comes as the team prepares for a significant change to its Moto2 line-up. Both Alonso and Holgado are set to move to MotoGP for 2027, creating the need for a new rider pairing in the intermediate class. CFMOTO Aspar has opted for a combination of proven experience and youthful potential, with Vietti joined by Máximo Quiles, who will make the step up from Moto3 to Moto2 after confirming his move during the summer break.

Vietti brings considerable experience to the team, having already made more than 100 Grand Prix starts in Moto2. During his career in the class, he has secured eight victories and 17 podium finishes, giving the CFMOTO Aspar Team an established front-runner capable of challenging for the championship from the outset.

The signing also continues the team’s strong relationship with riders from the VR46 Riders Academy. Previous collaborations have included Francesco Bagnaia and Niccolò Antonelli Migno in the World Championship, as well as Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini during their MotoJunior careers.

Jorge Martínez “Aspar” believes the addition of Vietti gives the team the experience and speed required to maintain its presence at the front of the Moto2 field.

“With the arrival of Celestino Vietti, we are completing a very strong team for the 2027 Moto2 season. We are constantly fighting for the top positions with Alonso and Holgado, something we wanted to replicate next season, which is why we turned to him. We are once again counting on a rider from the VR46 Riders Academy, following the experiences of Bagnaia and Migno in the World Championship, as well as Bezzecchi and Marini in what currently is the MotoJunior. We hope to provide Vietti with all the tools needed to fight for the Moto2 title together,” said Aspar.

For Vietti, the move represents an exciting new chapter in his Moto2 career. The change will see him adapt to both a new team and a different motorcycle, but his objective is clear: to fight for the championship.

With Vietti’s experience, Quiles’ emerging talent and a proven record of fighting at the sharp end of Moto2, the CFMOTO Aspar Team is assembling a line-up designed not simply to compete in 2027, but to challenge for the Moto2 World Championship.
