Bjorn Estment Enjoys Outstanding British Superbike Wildcard Weekend at Oulton Park

South African motorcycle racing star Bjorn Estment produced one of his strongest performances in recent years as he returned to the ROKiT OFF BMW F 900 R Cup for a wildcard appearance during the Bennetts British Superbike Championship weekend at Oulton Park.

Representing Bru Squad Moto, Estment wasted no time making his presence felt in a fiercely competitive field of 39 riders. The experienced South African qualified an impressive sixth on the grid with a best lap of 1:44.658, finishing just 1.053 seconds shy of pole position.

Despite competing against riders who contest the championship full-time, Estment immediately demonstrated his speed and racecraft, placing himself firmly among the front runners heading into race day.

His qualifying pace translated into an equally impressive performance in Heat 1, where Estment battled throughout the race to secure a well-deserved third-place finish. Crossing the line just 3.7 seconds behind the winner, the result marked his first podium finish in some time and was a welcome reward after his return to competitive action.

Reflecting on the achievement, Estment said:
“First podium in a little while! Thank you to everyone who has helped allow this to happen. It was a fun day today, now we need to get stuck in tomorrow. Let’s see what happens!”
The podium result provided a significant confidence boost heading into Sunday’s main race, where Estment once again delivered a superb performance.

Following his podium on Saturday, the South African rounded off the weekend with another front-running display, finishing an excellent fourth in the ROKiT OFF BMW F 900 R Cup Main Race to cap off an outstanding wildcard campaign.
Speaking after the race, it was evident just how much the weekend meant to Estment. Having spent an extended period away from racing, he expressed his delight at being given another opportunity to compete in the British Superbike support class and was grateful to be back fighting at the sharp end of the field.

Estment also extended his thanks to the Bru Squad Moto team, everyone working behind the scenes, and his sponsors for making the wildcard appearances possible and supporting him throughout the weekend.
The Oulton Park meeting proved to be a reminder of Estment’s quality and experience, with a sixth-place qualifying effort, a podium finish in Heat 1 and a fourth-place result in the Main Race highlighting a hugely successful return to British Superbike competition.

It was a weekend that showcased South African talent on the international stage once again and demonstrated that Bjorn Estment remains more than capable of running with the very best in the highly competitive BMW F 900 R Cup.
