Bimota Unveils All-New KB399: A Compact Supersport with Pure Racing DNA

“Have you ever fallen in love with an engine?” That simple yet evocative question from Bimota COO Pierluigi Marconi lies at the heart of the brand’s latest creation—the all-new KB399. With the covers now lifted, Bimota introduces its smallest-capacity modern machine yet, a motorcycle that blends high-revving performance with the marque’s unmistakable focus on craftsmanship, exclusivity, and racing pedigree.
The KB399 represents a bold and somewhat unconventional step for Bimota. Known for producing exotic, high-capacity machines, the introduction of a mid-class supersport signals a deliberate move to open the brand’s unique riding experience to a wider audience. Yet, despite its smaller displacement, there is nothing entry-level about the KB399. It is a distilled expression of Bimota’s engineering philosophy—compact, lightweight, and purpose-built with the racetrack in mind.

At its core lies a potent 399cc inline-four engine, derived from Kawasaki’s proven platform but elevated through Bimota’s tuning and engineering finesse. Producing a claimed 79bhp, the engine delivers a thrilling combination of strong low-to-midrange torque and an exhilarating top-end rush. The quick-revving nature and direct throttle response create a visceral connection between rider and machine, making every twist of the wrist feel immediate and engaging. Enhancing this experience is a bespoke Akrapovič silencer, fitted as standard, which amplifies the engine’s signature high-pitched howl—an essential part of the bike’s character, especially on track.

The KB399’s chassis and componentry reflect the same uncompromising attention to detail. Built around a compact and highly rigid frame, the bike is equipped with premium suspension and braking systems designed to extract maximum performance. A fully adjustable 41mm Showa SFF-BP inverted front fork is paired with a Showa BFRC-lite rear shock on the standard model, while the higher-spec KB399 ES benefits from an Öhlins STX46 rear unit. Braking duties are handled by Brembo Stylema radial monobloc calipers, ensuring sharp, consistent stopping power to match the bike’s dynamic capabilities.

True to Bimota tradition, the KB399 is as much a work of art as it is a performance machine. Its styling draws clear inspiration from the KB998 Rimini, with aggressive, race-bred lines that integrate both form and function. The bodywork, sculpted by Italian craftsmen, features intricate detailing and aerodynamic winglets, reinforcing its circuit-focused intent. On the ES model, dry carbon-fibre is used extensively across the fairings, further elevating both aesthetics and weight savings. Complementing this are beautifully machined billet aluminium components, including triple clamps, a steering stem cap, and—on the ES—adjustable rearsets and clip-on handlebars. Even the trellis frame receives a bespoke paint finish developed specifically for this model, underscoring Bimota’s commitment to detail.

Despite its exotic nature, the KB399 does not compromise on modern electronics. Riders benefit from a comprehensive suite including traction control, selectable power modes, integrated riding modes, and a standard quickshifter system, all contributing to a refined yet thrilling riding experience whether on road or track.

The KB399 ES (Edizione Speciale) takes things a step further for those seeking the ultimate specification. In addition to its carbon bodywork and Öhlins suspension, it features a range of billet aluminium upgrades and enhanced adjustability, positioning it as a premium offering within an already exclusive package.

Pierluigi Marconi describes the KB399 as a pure expression of the brand’s essence, created with the same passion that defines every Bimota. The goal, he explains, is to deliver a distinctly Bimota riding experience not only to loyal enthusiasts but also to a new generation of riders discovering the brand’s craftsmanship-led approach.

With pricing set at £10,999 for the standard model and £14,699 for the ES version, the KB399 firmly occupies the premium end of the middleweight supersport segment. Production will be limited, with order windows tied to monthly builds, reinforcing its exclusivity. First deliveries are expected towards the end of 2026.

Looking ahead, there is strong potential for the KB399 to make its mark in racing, with speculation pointing towards a future entry in the upcoming World Sportbike Championship. While confirmation is still pending, the platform’s performance credentials suggest it would be a natural fit for the series.

In a market where middleweight sportsbikes are often defined by value, the KB399 stands apart as something far more emotive. It is not simply about capacity or cost—it is about connection, craftsmanship, and the unmistakable allure of a machine built with racing in its soul.
