Aprilia X 250TH Unveiled: MotoGP-Derived Masterpiece Celebrates 250 Years of American Independence

Aprilia Racing has revealed the ultra-exclusive Aprilia X 250TH, a limited-edition superbike created to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. Unveiled during the United States Grand Prix in Austin on 27 March 2026, the X 250TH stands as one of the most extreme expressions of MotoGP technology ever made available to the public.

Built by the Noale-based racing department, the Aprilia X 250TH pays tribute to July 4, 1776, with a striking “Stars and Stripes” livery inspired by the American flag. Production is strictly limited to just 30 units worldwide, with 25 allocated to the United States and the remaining five reserved for global markets, reinforcing its rarity and collector appeal.

At its core, the X 250TH represents a significant technological leap. It is the first production motorcycle equipped with carbon-carbon brake discs, identical in concept to those used in MotoGP. This groundbreaking system delivers unparalleled braking performance, bringing it closer than ever to the stopping power experienced on the Aprilia RS-GP race machine. The setup features 340 mm high-mass carbon discs paired with carbon pads and billet aluminium calipers with integrated cooling fins, while the rear is managed by a nickel-plated caliper. Beyond sheer performance, the system drastically reduces weight compared to traditional steel components, improving handling and consistency under extreme conditions.

Aerodynamics play an equally critical role in the X 250TH’s design philosophy. Drawing directly from MotoGP development, the bike incorporates advanced seat wings, tail wings, and a comprehensive aerodynamic package inspired by the RS-GP. These elements work together to increase downforce during braking and cornering, enhancing stability and grip. A patented ground-effect system further boosts cornering performance by generating additional load when the bike is leaned over. The extensive use of carbon fibre, including a structural saddle support manufactured using advanced “sandwich structure” techniques, ensures optimal rigidity while keeping weight to a minimum. The result is a machine that closely mirrors the dynamic behaviour of a full-fledged prototype racer.

Powering the X 250TH is a 1099 cc 65-degree V4 engine developed to World Superbike specifications. Producing an impressive 240 horsepower at 13,750 rpm and 131 Nm of torque at 11,750 rpm, the engine benefits from an increased compression ratio, a high-performance racing air filter, revised intake trumpets, an SC Project titanium exhaust system, and an STM dry clutch. This combination delivers explosive performance that places the X 250TH firmly at the pinnacle of track-focused machinery.
Electronics are managed by the advanced Aprilia Racing APX control unit, derived directly from World Superbike systems. Fully adjustable, it allows riders to fine-tune parameters such as traction control, wheelie mitigation, engine braking, and power delivery for each gear, all supported by an integrated GPS system for precise track adaptation.

The chassis architecture reflects Aprilia’s racing pedigree, built around an aluminium twin-spar frame paired with Öhlins suspension, including a pressurised fork setup. Forged magnesium Marchesini wheels are wrapped in Pirelli slick tyres as used in World Superbike competition, while premium finishing touches include carbon fibre and billet aluminium components throughout. High-performance cooling systems, a titanium rear sprocket, lightweight front sprocket, and race-spec chain complete the package.

Exclusivity extends beyond the motorcycle itself. Each owner receives a comprehensive package that includes a dedicated laptop for ECU management, a personalised bike cover, paddock stands, tyre warmers, and additional track-focused accessories. The Aprilia X 250TH is offered at an MSRP of $150,000 in the United States, while the limited international allocation is priced at €115,000 plus VAT, with orders handled through Aprilia’s Factory Works programme.

As the sixth chapter in Aprilia’s celebrated “X” series—following previous models such as the RSV4 X, Tuono X, RSV4 X Trenta, RSV4 X ex3ma, and RSV4 X-GP—the X 250TH further cements the brand’s commitment to delivering race-derived technology to a select group of enthusiasts. With its combination of MotoGP-level innovation, extreme performance, and uncompromising exclusivity, the Aprilia X 250TH stands as a machine designed not just for riding, but for experiencing the closest possible connection to the world of Grand Prix racing.
