Allen Millyard’s Legendary 500bhp Viper V10 Heads to Auction After 9,000 Miles of Road-Going History

One of the most extraordinary motorcycles ever built is set to change hands as engineering genius Allen Millyard prepares to part with his legendary Millyard Viper V10. Producing an astonishing 500bhp from a massive 8.0-litre V10 engine, the one-of-a-kind machine will be offered for sale at the H&H Classics Motorcycle Auction at the National Motorcycle Museum in the UK on 22 July 2026.

Powered by an 8.0-litre Dodge Viper V10 engine developing around 500bhp and 525lb-ft of torque, the Millyard Viper is far more than a custom motorcycle. It has become one of the most recognisable engineering creations in the motorcycling world, attracting global attention through television, magazines and countless online videos. Now, after years in Allen Millyard’s own collection, the iconic machine is being offered for sale.

Widely regarded as Millyard’s greatest creation, the Viper V10 perfectly showcases the engineer’s remarkable ability to turn seemingly impossible ideas into fully functioning motorcycles. After spending decades working in precision engineering, Millyard devoted himself to building bespoke motorcycles unlike anything else on the road. His projects have included V12-powered motorcycles, aero-engined creations and numerous multi-cylinder engineering marvels, all designed to look as though they could have rolled directly from a factory production line.

The Viper V10 began life in 2004 after Millyard acquired a decade-old Dodge Viper GTS engine complete with its distinctive snake-head embossed magnesium rocker covers. Over the following five years, every aspect of the motorcycle was painstakingly handcrafted before it successfully passed the UK’s Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval test and was registered for road use in August 2009.

Despite its enormous engine, the motorcycle was engineered with impressive attention to detail. The engine itself forms the heart of the chassis, with a tubular steel front subframe and an aluminium rear subframe bolted directly to the powerplant. A single-sided swingarm mounts to the gearbox, while specially manufactured front forks feature enormous 75mm JCB hydraulic ram stanchions, converted Vauxhall Carlton damper rods and Hagon springs. At the rear, two recalibrated Yamaha R1 shock absorbers provide suspension duties.

Further engineering highlights include a lightweight alloy flywheel replacing the original cast-iron unit, handcrafted ceramic-coated exhaust headers and silencers inspired by those found on Suzuki’s TL1000S, giving the giant motorcycle a surprisingly clean street-cruiser appearance despite its outrageous proportions.

Performance has always been as astonishing as its appearance. During testing at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Motorcycle News Chief Test Rider Bruce Dunn recorded an incredible 207.1mph using taller gearing and without even using full throttle. Reflecting on the unforgettable experience, Dunn famously remarked, “I felt like US astronaut John Glenn on top of the Atlas rocket.”

Remarkably, this incredible machine has never been a static museum exhibit. Allen Millyard has ridden the Viper V10 for more than 9,000 miles, taking it on trips to Guernsey, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, where it completed laps of the world-famous TT Mountain Course. In 2014 it received the “Most OTT” (Over The Top) award at the prestigious Salon Privé Concours d’Elegance, later wearing the highly appropriate registration plate “V10 OTT.”

The motorcycle also earned a place in the Guinness World Records. In May 2023, Millyard teamed up with fellow The Motorbike Show presenter Henry Cole to set the Fastest Tandem Motorcycle World Record. Riding at Elvington Airfield in North Yorkshire, the pair achieved an officially timed speed of 183.5mph, beating the previous record by almost five miles per hour.

Speaking about the difficult decision to sell the motorcycle, Millyard admitted it had not been an easy choice.

“I’ve decided to offer my 8000cc Millyard Viper V10 up for sale at the next H&H auction at the National Motorcycle Museum UK on the 22nd July 2026. This has been a very difficult decision for me to make, but it will make way for more exciting projects in the future.”

The Viper V10 has become a true global superstar. It has featured on the cover of Motorcycle News, appeared in The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail and Daily Star, starred on television in The Motorbike Show, and built an enormous worldwide following online. Even among other V10-powered motorcycles, it stands alone thanks to its fully road-legal status, exceptional engineering and proven real-world usability.

Now offered directly from Allen Millyard’s personal collection, the Viper V10 is described by its creator as one of his most significant and recognisable motorcycles. It will be sold complete with extensive history documentation, its V5C registration document and two interchangeable seats, including a supportive solo saddle and a traditional dual-seat arrangement.

H&H Classics estimates the motorcycle will sell for between £100,000 and £150,000 when it crosses the auction block at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull on 22 July 2026. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, it represents an exceptionally rare opportunity to own one of the most famous and technically remarkable motorcycles ever built—a unique 500bhp engineering masterpiece that has already secured its place in motorcycling history.
