By MRWadmin

The Africa GP Academy is the platform for young riders wanting to make it onto the World stage and create a direct path to MotoGP and WSBK.

As a Non-Profit Organisation focused on the development of young riders, the Academy has partnered with Aprilia Racing South Africa and have begun recruiting riders for the 2021 season with Italian Motorcycle Importer’s providing a home office.

Riders are eligible from the age of 11 and will be piloting the all new Aprilia RS250SP Motorcycle.

The Aprilia RS250 SP is the product of an extensive Italian collaboration, designed and built based on a Moto3 format to ensure an easier transition. With 30hp (22kW) and a dry weight of 105 kg, the Aprilia RS250 SP is designed to be an affordable but competent racing machine for youngsters.

The bike was built with the involvement of the Italian Motorcycling Federation (FMI) and adopted by Italy, Spain and America who are looking to develop a spec-series with the motorcycle.

The bike comes with Öhlins suspension, forged aluminium Marchesini wheels, an SC-Project exhaust, and high-spec Brembo brakes with Dunlop Moto3 Spec Tyres.

It is a carburetted four-stroke / four-valve  water cooled motor, which was designed to make decent power, but be approachable for maintenance and tuning.

Youngsters enrolling will be part of an intensive program not only to improve rider ability but also to prepare them for all aspects involved when choosing a career as a professional rider.

This will include Rider Training, Technical Training, Marketing and Social Media Training as well physical development.

Being part of the Academy will give riders access to Professional Coaches Sheridan Morias and Themba Khumalo. Ricky Morias will be heading up the Technical Team and will help riders understand the technical aspects of bike set up and tuning for speed.

The International exposure via the Italian Cup on the very same Aprilia RS250 SP with Italian Cup top riders, will be critical to rider development opportunity, delivered via Wild Card entries the Africa GP Academy has secured giving local riders a cost effective way to the International racing scene.

The World of Motorcycles Race Series SuperSport 300 CC Class will be the Academy’s home for 2021. The academy will adhere to the International program format and follow the same Rules & Regulations as their counter parts in Europe and America where similar programs are being run.

The cost to be part of this program is R494 000.00 for the year. This includes purchasing the bike and enrolment into the Academy for 2021. There is a payment plan available and the Academy will assist potential riders where possible to secure sponsorship.
